Whitley Bombers at RAF Driffield

Taken by Mr B J Daventry (RAF Official Photographer), this series of photographs was taken on March 7th 1940.

No.102 and No.77 Squadrons flew the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley from Driffield, until shortly after the German Air Raid on August 15th 1940.

Copies of these photographs can be ordered direct from the Imperial War Museum.  Each photograph reproduced here features a negative number, which should be used when ordering enlargements.

I would like to thank Ian Carter, from the Imperial War Museum's photographic collection, for allowing me to use these photographs.  Incidentally, Ian's father was based at Driffield during his National Service.
